Hello all, I am doing a map in Mr Schley's style, but I need a tree type he doesn't have in his collection. Does anyone know where I might find some compatible Tree Symbols? Please.
Compatible with Mike Schley? That's a really difficult thing to find. His artwork is over the top in detail and has a specific style that many have tried to emulate but very few could pull it off. I've never seen anything that even comes close to being compatible with his style except for stuff he himself has drawn.
Are you looking for a specific kind of tree? do you own any of the Cartographer's Annuals? There are many different tree icons in so many different mapping styles that it is difficult to tell you where to find them. But there are some nice trees in the Herwin Weilink style and some nice trees in the Alyssa Faden style. There are also multiple styles in the Cartographer's Annuals by John Roberts and Par Lindstrom that have wonderful trees in them.
You also might find some great looking trees in the CSUAC or Bogie's symbols Look at the top of the forums for information on how to download these. There should be a thread about the CSUAC up there.
You may also find some trees in the download section of the Profantasy Website. Navigate to the Downloads section and click on the part that says "Map & Catalog Library". Each map or set of icons you come to in that area is downloadable. Just pay attention to the requirements for copyright of each of the artists. It will tell you what they expect next to the actual picture of what you are downloading.

But I wish you luck in finding something.

Of course you would have to convert them to symbols. I like this one pretty much:
