I still love my hardcovers. I amaze players in my group by constantly opening a book right to the page needed. Pretty silly talent.
I find pdf's take too long to find stuff. Sometimes you are looking for something that text might not get you to, or a whole lot of wrong results.
I hate pdf's. Anytime I have bought rulebooks it has always been real books first, then I get the pdf. Sadly traveller was a game I played a lot when I was in my 20's but I never bought the books. I just borrowed some from a friend of mine.
My pamphlet books come from the late 70's and the 80's
What is so great about Traveller is that it is so easy to make new character classes, skills, equipment and more. Back in the day, we played Doctor Who using the rules, and ran a Aliens campaign (the movie series) using Traveller rules.
