Problems Deleting Items Pasted from Clipboard

Ran into an issue where if I "copy to clipboard" on one drawing, and then paste it into another drawing, I can't then delete what I've pasted. I find the sheet it's on no problem, but it doesn't let me delete it. I can still delete other things I've drawn on that sheet, it's only the stuff I've pasted from the clipboard.

It also doesn't happen all the time, but I can't figure out what's different from one time to the next.

Is the layer (as opposed to the sheet) frozen? If so, try unfreezing the layer first and then deleting the pasted items.

Well, it took me a while to figure out how to freeze & thaw, but that was it. Thanks!

Is there an option or something that sets any paste-from-clipboard as frozen?

Not that I'm aware of. I believe entities just paste to the same sheets and layers they're copied from.

I agree that objects are pasted onto the sheets and layers they were copied from, and I've also had to unlock layers in the new file to be able to manipulate pasted objects.
