When sharing a maps the I have made this ProFantasy Software. What license info do I need to provide? What is the best way to post them with clear licensing info? So the proper credit is given. I am new to this so want to make sure I am fallowing all the rules. Would I state sum-thing like. This map was made using ProFantasy, Cosmographer 3 and the 2007 Annul style pack Starships Deckplans.

Hi Belgath. Welcome to CC3 and the ProFantasy forum.

The ProFantasy license agreement does not require you to provide any info about the software when posting a map. Think of it like word processing software for maps.

I don't know for certain about 3rd-party content (like non-ProFantasy symbols and bitmap fills) but I believe the same is true there too. Someone else may be able to confirm or correct me on that.

    Cheers,

  • I've posted over 2,000 maps to my web sites. i mention the software used, but its not a requirement. Nor maps posted here.

Also, when sharing maps, you'll probably want to save them as image files first, such as JPG or PNG files (File>Save As). If you share the actual map file then only people with CC3 and the proper add-ons would be able to open it. There's a free viewer but I don't know if it's kept pace with CC3 and in any event, people would still need to download it before viewing the map.

    Cheers,

  • The traveler import maps for Cosmograher would they fall under the floorplan part of the license " (iii) You may not produce commercial products which consist predominantly of floorplan-resolution exports of OUR ARTWORK without written permission from ProFantasy Software Ltd. This includes but is not limited to PDF dungeon tiles."
Not planing to sell anything. I jest had a web forum manager concerned that I was braking copy write. By sharing an Traveler sector map that came with Cosmograher which I had updated for my M-Space game. So Jest wanted it was ok to share the sector maps as well as well.

No, does not fall under that paragraph. And remember, that paragraph is only for commercial products anyway, sharing individual personal maps never come under that paragraph.

I have no idea about the actual traveller data itself though, the sector import uses data from www.travellermap.com, but I can't find anything about usage there.
  • Everyone thanks for the input.
  • The Traveler data is going to be owned by who ever has the copyright on the sectors and subsectors. Traveler does have its own OGL I believe now.

The Citizens of the Imperium forum might be able to answer any questions about Traveler data usage.

These four 3rd party add-ons for CC3+, which we distribute under license, are available for personal and commercial use and require no credits:

    1) Bogie's Mapping Objects
    2) CSUAC 2
    3) Dundjinni Archives
    4) Vintyri Cartographic Collection

Each is released under its own license. Nos.1-3 have their own End User License Agreements (EULA) which permit personal and commercial use. No. 4 is released under the Open Game License 1.0a, which also allows personal and commercial use.
