Trim Function

First I confess, I read how the Trim function works, but...my eyes glazed over and I said huh?

I am trying to finish my first map/battle map since I purchased CC3+ so I can enter the battle map competition. My dilemma is that I have placed objects (I guess I should say symbols) that go outside the edge of my battle maps dimensions and now I want to trim them at the map edge.

Sooooo... my question is, um yeah how do I do it?

Symbols can't be trimmed (unless they are old-style vector symbols). What most people do is to just place a white polygon immediately outside the map border to cover up anything sticking out. Most CC3+ templates should have this set up on the SCREEN sheet already.
