Drawing a Ship need advice

Hi I'm back again with yet more scratching my head moments.

I'm trying to draw my first space ship using the various templates.
I managed to get the hull drawn and on the Hull gotten the symbols that show on the Hull.

However,
Problem 1:
I want to add some additional labels but the black background is making it impossible.
How do I remove the black background. Basically I want to change the grid to black lines on white background (I think it has something to do with editing the grid to be that way but I can't figure out how).

Problem 2:
When I read the instructions in the Cosmographer booklet it says you can copy and paste images from the hull to the floors so that it automatically goes in the same place (for things that are effectively on all floors) but I can't figure out how to make it work at all.

Thank you ahead of time for your help.

    1. The background is a polygon on the BACKGROUND sheet with a starfield fill. Simply use change properties on it, and change fill style to solid and color to white. You can also use change properties on the grid.

    2. Use the Cosmographer -> Multi-Deck tools menu. It has a copy command for this.
  • managed to get the multi-deck tool to work this time -- not sure what I was doing wrong the first time.

I think I might have to do the background first then recopy to make it work. It seems to want to hide the stuff from the original drawing. I got it to work but it removed the gridline completely then erased everything and made an all white background
