FT3 Elevation Matching
I just got FT3 and have a world close to what I want with some tweaking here and there using the raise and lower terrain to make adjustments. This however is too random based on the algorithms doing the fractal mapping. Is there a way to pick a specific elevation on a map and select a region and have it all become that elevation? Kind of like an elevation picker and paste.
Basically I have a large inland body of water and I want it to be a fairly consistent shallow depth across the entire body of water.
Thanks in advance,
Bill

0) Make sure that you have an editing resolution sufficient to give you the amount of detail desired. http://www.fracterra.com/CGTutorial/index.html offers some suggestions.
1) Use Select>>Freehand Selection Tool to select the area around your body of water (leave a little bit of land at the edges).
2) Use Select>>Feather with a value of around 2 to smooth out the edges of the selection to avoid a hard step in the terrain.
3) Use Tools>>Global Set>>Land Roughness Edit with a value of around 0.2 to reduce the terrain roughness a bit. This change will help make the next step a little cleaner as well.
4) Use Tools>>Global Set>>Altitude Value with your desired altitude (say, -100 or so). Note that this altitude won't be exact and will likely bounce up and down by a hundred feet or so.
You should now have a relatively shallow and relatively flat lake.
I have bought almost all of the ProFantasy suites and add ons in the last few weeks including the Tome, and am in information overload from all the reading and trying. Having a quick helping hand was very nice.
Thank you for taking the time to help.
