Searching for a Show and Tell Thread

A couple of days ago, I saw a thread here on Profantasy, where someone was making a 2D dungeon map look 3D. There were actually quite a few small battlemaps in one thread, all of the same place. I don't remember who the original author was, but I believe Mappy took part in the conversation, and perhaps jslayton.

I remember that there was some issues with the beveling, and someone recomended adding sheets in between the different levels to correct the little triangles that sometimes shows up when you have two bevels on top of each other.

I forgot to bookmark the thread, and now I can't find it. It was somehow linked to one of Mappy's threads, I believe, but I don't think it was originally done by Mappy. I'm looking for this particular thread, because I want to attempt some of the techniques in my Devil's Playground, but I need to see the maps he made, so I have an idea of how it was done. I also want to study the beveling and between sheets a little more closely.

Can anyone help me find this thread?

The first thing that came to my mind was this neat post by Xander from a couple of years ago. I remember it more for the re-scaled ladder symbols than for the multi-level effect itself.

More recently, Lorelei posted this impressive map, which uses overland map cliff symbols to create a neat multi-level look to her cavern.

Not sure if either of those are the one you're thinking of, but hopefully they can provide some inspiration anyway.

Hello. Hopefully Sue's link is the correct one. Here is a link to the Lost Mine Of Phandelver battlemaps I did awhile ago. The Redbrand Hideout has a big crevasse in the middle of it and there was a bit of discussion at the time of how to create that depth. Depth is tricky. Hope it helps!

I was thinking about that post of yours, too, Mappy, specifically because of the crevasse but, for some reason, it didn't register as being "3D" in my head. This is what I get for posting while at work.

I'm tempted to create a September Campaign Cartographer Challenge: Make a small battlemap with the focal point being either a crevasse or hill/hummock. Just so we can get a good collection of ideas on the best way to create depth. I tried to make a hill the other night and it was just ugly. And embarrasing. Almost nauseating...

Not as detailed, but here is one for showing a 3D area by using different gray transparencies:

how do I make deep cave in CC3/DD3 ? and a Multi-level Battle tiles discussuon is linked which is the Xander one.
