Known issues with the base content and annuals?

Over time I have noticed that in both CC3 and CC3+ that certain maps both with the base content and the annuals will sometimes look strange on start up. For example when I use John Roberts styles and I start a map using feet and inches the bitmaps don't come out looking like what John Roberts style maps look like. You have to have the maps scaled to metric for it to look correct. Other maps you need to have specific dimensions laid out at start up for the map to look right. For example when using the wizard a 1000x800 map will not look right unless you change the dimensions down or up on some of the styles. The deluxe battlemaps style for CC3+ comes to mind here.

The bottom line is I think it would be cool to have a list of map styles and their particular peculiarities posted. I know that the directions for each style will sometimes cover this but I have found this to not always be the case. Also is there a physical monitor size that is ideal for working with this program? I use a big screen tv as my monitor and am not opposed to the idea that some of the warping might be caused by that.

  • Are having trouble with maps made in CC3 and you load it into CC3Plus ? That would be normal as not all symbols, etc. available in CC3 are available in CC3 Plus.

I have everything Profantasy made/makes for CC3. I find the best way to load a map, when both CC3 and CC3Plus are installed, is to load the software first, then browse to the folder for which one I'm using, and load the map from there.

I have discovered both of your points through trial and error, about the symbols not crossing over and loading maps from the software so I am not having trouble with either of those issues. I'm just saying there are other quirks with the maps, some styles don't look good in 1000x800 maps for example but look fine when you change the dimensions. Those kinds of things I think should be documented. I can list some more examples later. I just think it would make things easier and allow people to concentrate on making good maps instead of configuring the software to make things look good.
  • I haven't encountered that particular problem... hopefully someone else can chime in.
