So after being inspired by the poison garden in the Alnwick Gardens, i thought of creating some kind of encounter in a poison garden adjacent to some castle ruins. The castle, its walls and ramparts will be in states of ruin and disrepair, but the Poison Garden will be mysteriously thriving....

Citadel Saruva Bolest lies far off in the Veridian Barrens, a desolate stretch of wasteland between the Pilgrim Forest and the Twilight Mountains. Most do not venture into the Barrens, so beasts of all kinds roam the open lands freely, giving fodder to the small clutch of dragons known to populate the high peaks of Mt. Twilight. Some do risk the Veridian Barrens with its many ruins of past ages long gone and forgotten, and their hidden treasures lying in wait for adventurers brave and/or foolish enough to seek them. So my players will come across the citadel, which is nothing but crumbled ruins, the gardens long dead and gone....all but the Poison Garden. Standing alone among the ruins and wastes of Saruva Bolest is the Poison Garden, which mysteriously remains lush and living (my current campaign revolves around the Goddess of Disease and Poison, Talona)

Lorlelei, I have to ask.. how did you get the oval areas? I've been wanting to make ovals, and can't find a way to do it! By the way, this looks fantastic!!! Love the dead trees and bushes!!!

One of my players' characters found a poison cyclopedia a while back and, dang it, the player regularly reminds me that his PC is studying it during down times. Quite the [fun] challenge you've made for yourself.

Well, feel free to print this one up to play on, however this is a pretty big map to print - i plan on having it done at a friend's print shop 36x48 - which can run you about $40 at your local office max if you are not as fortunate as i am to have a friend with a shop

Or online it would be perfect! Next time your player reminds you of this new "skill", start planning an encounter here.....mwhwhahahaaaaa

I don't remember the title, but years ago I found a translated herbalist and flower book from some time ago. It has drawings, descriptions, and what the plant was used for in the past. Several hundred pages. I haven't seen it in years, so I don't know if I still have it or not.
