Hello everyone. Well, since I've been out of mapping for a while I thought I would just jump right back in with this map of the road to Dojyu. Anyway, it is incomplete but I hope you like it so far.

I love this style

Coming along really well...i especially like the colors you've chosen. What's the artwork in the top and bottom corners? Its a great touch!

Thank you Lorelei, the artwork in the corners are from the famous Japanese Ukiyo-E artist Hokusai. I still have to add plants and a few other things to this map. I'm thinking of maybe a cherry tree orchard or maybe a forest of bamboo. I'm still not sure yet.

And now that I think about it I may have found a better piece of art for the top corner.

Nice. I particularly like the river valley and the large island in the bay. The torii at the mouth of the river and the island's inlet are a nice touch.

Thanks Charles. I'll be experimenting with this style a little to see if I can make it look like it is winter. That should be quite a challenge.

I much prefer the new text as well - fits with the style of the map a lot better - clean lines

Does it say anything in particular, or is it decorative text?

The Chinese text in the lower-left adds a lot to the map. Even though it may have nothing to do with a coastal map in real life, it lends a weight of authenticity, or at least authority. Nice.

Thanks Sue...Do you mind if I just call you Sue? Yes, the text actually says stuff but I forgot what it was. It is things like courage, love, devotion...stuff like that. But it looked good so on the map it goes. To a native reader of Japanese I'm sure they will wonder why I put such random things everywhere but for the rest of us I think it does the job nicely.

No. I don't mind if you call me Sue. In fact the only reason There's a Loopy in front of it is that Sue is such a common name that I don't even bother trying to use it as an avatar name any more. I really hate being Sue001, or Sue002, etc. But no one in their right mind would call themselves LoopySue, so that's what I called myself.

(That, and I wasn't feeling to great about myself at the time I thought of it. LOL)
