Merman Colosseum - CG August Challenge Complete

So 've been working on this over the weekend.....the mapping challenge for August at the CG was a dice roll combining a race and a location/region/structure. I got Merman Colosseum. Huh. Why not? I didn't think i had a need for such a map in my campaign, but then i thought of The Pickled Reef in the Isolate Isles......hmmm......wheels turning.....encounters to be planned (wicked DM laugh in background). So here's what i've come up with. I'll work on it off an on the rest of the month making any changes you guys might suggest.
Nestled within the Pickled Reef, off the Isolate Isles, lies the Merfolk settlement of Caulastrea. These Merfolk magically lure unwitting seaman fishing the reefs to peer overboard and charm them down to the depths of their reef. There, they cast waterbreathing magic on their prisoner then match them in the colosseum against creatures of the deep in combat for their perverse and wicked entertainment, much like the Romans of ancient times.

This is even more lovely than it was just a couple of hours ago
I think you said somewhere about thinking to put sunlight in? One thing to remember is that when looking from above the presence of sunlight is more visible as the rippling patterns that are cast on the sea bed, than as beams or rays (unless the water is cloudy)

I hope you won't think I'm copying you when my underwater village comes out! I've been trying to work it for sometime now...I don't have anything to post yet... but I will in a little while
Absolutely beautiful, as always
~Dogtag,
EDIT: Well - joint second. But the fact remains that if a certain newbie "Teacup" hadn't just stolen the spotlight with a rather nice hand drawn map then Lorelei would probably be looking at getting one of those compass awards...
Did you create the scroll or was it something you found?
