Since you wish to do it with an island, it is very simple though. Simply create a new map with the appropriate dimensions for the island (You can find these by measuring your island on the main map using the tools in the Info menu). Then, simply copy the island to the clipboard, and paste it into the new map, then proceed to add detail.
but i have one more question.
how can i make a island bigger when i drew the island already? it would help me alot
When you draw a map, it's better not to think about the unit as map unit, but as real (imaginary) units. So, for instance, for a continent map, you may decide that one map unit represents 1km. You draw all of your continent, it may be 10000 map units large, when you print/export it, you will map those 10000 units to say 20cm.
Then you extract a small island. You don't change it size at all. You may want to update the symbol scale, so that symbol look good, but symbol size is not related to real size on this kind of map. Your island may be only 50 map units large, but this is not an issue. When printing/exporting, you will map those 50 units to say 20cm. That way, you can easily copy/paste/measure stuff on both maps without having to manually apply scaling each tie, since those map are the same scale, even if they have really different sizes.
i have one more question. i want to make seas on my island and when i draw them and i zoome in or out they dissapear is there a way where the sea stays on his place?
If you have a SEA sheet, for the ocean where your island sits, for example, it is probably listed above the LAND sheet (or whatever it's called), where you drew the island. That means CC3 draws the SEA sheet, then it draws the LAND sheet on top. If you try to add inland seas to the SEA sheet, the island will be drawn over them whenever you refresh the map (or zoom). So, as Lorelei said, you need to put the inland seas on another sheet that is listed below the LAND sheet.
[] [] SEA
[] [] LAND
[] [] LAKES
my sheet order is the same like Loopysue listed here. and if i understand it correctly. when the sea sheet is above my land sheet means that i cant draw any lakes until the land sheet is above the sea sheet?
becaus the sea sheet is above my land sheet and there is a Contours (sea) sheet between of it i dont know if its change at all.
is there a way that i can change the order on my current drawing?
I hope that helps
sea
land
lakes
And they draw top to bottom, lakes would be last and show on top of the land.
If you want an island on the lake,
sea
land
lakes
island
