CC3+ User Manual Tutorial Question

I'm currently working through the tutorial in the CC3+ User Manual. Whenever I place terrain, like the farmland, grassland, and shallow water in the tutorial, mine comes out just a solid color. The pictures in the user manual have bitmap textures in them, but I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Any suggestions?

Are you using the correct template with the drawing tools? When a drawing tool produces a solid color instead of the correct fill, this is usually because you use a different set of drawing tools than intended for the template, for example the Mike Schley tools on a CC3 standard overland template or similar. Try starting a new map in the Mike Schley overland style and see if that turns out differently.
  • That seems to work, thanks! Now is there a way to convert or fix the existing map so that I don't have to start over?

Yes. You can either use clipboard copy (Edit -> Copy [Watch the command line carefully, do everything it tells you to]) to copy everything you have done so far to a new map with the correct fills/styles, or add the appropriate fill styles to the map. This is done by going to Draw -> insert file, and insert a map that already contains the correct fill styles, as this will copy the styles to your current map. You can then immediately do an Undo to remove the map you inserted, this will remove the actual entities you inserted, but the fill styles will remain behind.
