Printing A Single Map Tile

Let's say I'm printing a large map in CC3+ and I'm tiling it over 9 pages arranged 3x3. Now let's say I would like to reprint just the center page/tile. Is it possible to print a specific tile without reprinting the entire map?

    Welcome to the forum, Ratpunk!

Assuming you know the exact coordinates of the corners of your map, you could use Save as rectangular PNG section, then print that as a whole map?

Hi RatPunk. As Loopysue said, welcome to the ProFantasy forum.

I haven't tried this lately myself, but if you're using CC3+, you can try selecting File>Print Wizard from the menu bar. Alternatively, you can right-click the Print icon and select Print Wizard from the pop-up menu.

Step 7 of the Print Wizard should let you pick the tiles you want to print.

The Print Wizard is only available in CC3+. No such animal in CC3, I'm afraid.

    I hope that helps,

  • Loopysue - Unfortunately, since it's a section in the middle, I don't have the exact coordinates.

Dogtag - I tried that. It lets me select a single tile in the preview window, but it still prints the entire map when I hit print.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

Sorry to hear it. That's almost certainly a bug you ought to tell ProFantasy about. They'll want to know so they can try and fix it.

Sorry I couldn't be more help,

  • I always print first to pdf using a pdf printer (CutePDF, PDF995, etc). Each page of the pdf is a single tile and I can print which ever pages/tiles I need.

Another quick, but less-precise, method is to zoom into the area you want to print and then, in the Print dialog, choose Active Window. It should only print the visible part of the map.
  • Or save as a rectangular png, and select the area you want to print out. After that is done, print out the png you saved.

Shessar - I was finally able to do it that way, once I was able to get past it crashing when I went to print. The scale on the PDF is a little off from the normal map, so the tile doesn't quite fit with the rest of the already printed map. Unfortunately, if I print the whole map as a PDF, the scale across the entire map will be off by over half an inch.

Dogtag - I have yet to get the Active Window printing to work on any of my maps... :(

JimP - The problem with rectangular PNG is that I need a very particular sized piece (one specific tile), which is hard to get that way.

    I appreciate everyone's help!
  • You can zoom in. Its worked for me, but I've been doing it for years.
