Perspectives 3 just made cc3+ very glitchy

I just downloaded and installed perspectives 3. I'm looking forward to trying out this program, once I get my other projects finished!!!

However, I did notice a couple of things.

#1 - I don't have the Perspectives icon on my tool bar to switch to. I have cc3+/dd3/cd3/ca(even though I don't have character artist... yet) but no per.

#2 - my cc3+ just got a LOT slower, and more prone to crashing. It took almost 5 minutes to load my current mapping project back into the window.

Is there some way to fix this?

None of that should happen, but Ralf or Remy will have to jump in here. I haven't the foggiest idea what's up. When I still had Perspectives 3, none of that happened. Sorry.
  • didn't think of that Shessar, thanks!
  • Okay, I reran update 6, but it didn't solve the problem... so I'm still going to need some help. I would hate to have to uninstall and reinstall everything.

LadieStorm, try running CC3MenuConfig. It is in your CC3+ data directory - Cc:\ProgramData\ProFantasy\CC3Plus. Make sure to right click the file and run as administrator.

If this doesn't work, your best bet is to contact support. Reinstalling everything may not be necessary.
  • I will try it, because I've just encountered a new problem. I had it to where it was working, after mark sent me instructions on how to fix it. And it worked, right up until I opened my castle fcw and tried to work on it. I zoomed into work on a specific area, realized I had zoomed in on the wrong area, and zoomed out again. The program crashed, red verse, and my working area is blank. It tried opening it back up, but it either comes up blank with TAN,TAN in the subject window. when I try to open the program g the fcw...it tries, then stalls (not responding) then closes again.
  • I'm just going to contact support. I'm no longer able to open my castle fcw.... it comes up NAN,NAN every time and I get a blank working window.

    Oh dear :(

Maybe it will be ok when you start up in the morning. I know it sounds daft, but you never know...

If not, then at least we have a helpful and responsive support system here. I'm sure it won't be long before you're right back on track.

    Monsen or Ralf...

Does NAN still mean "Not a number" (Java)?

If that is what it means, then as I would understand the problem there's a corruption of the script somewhere. Something is waiting for a numeric piece of data to be input or passed to it, and its getting something else instead - something rather than nothing at all, but the something its getting just isn't a number.

Just a stab in the dark there. My Java training is... ummmm...15 years(?) out of date! (I need one of Dogtag's cheesy apologetic grins here, but I'm too tired to remember how to do it)

EDIT: Oh sorry - I misread Ladiestorm's post - thought she wrote NAN, not TAN. I really am tired. Just ignore me.

EDIT2: No. Ladiestorm said NAN, NAN the first time, but TAN, TAN the second time - so now I don't know if what I said is relevant or not.
  • It is actually NAN,NAN that getting. That first TAN thing was my tired eyes working in conjunction with my eye stigmatisms. Sorry, stuff like that happens when I get stressed.

Tired eyes getting us both ways then... lol!
  • LS, I'm not sure if you've gotten help on this yet...

The NAN,NAN sometimes happens when a symbol gets too far outside of the map, or is enlarged to a point that it just can't be loaded, or something else odd that makes it unable to be displayed.

To fix it, click the zoom button. Rather than selecting two points with the mouse, type in two coordinates on the command line. Use 0,0 and 100,100. This should get your map back in focus.

Now slowly zoom out until you can see your whole map.

Now click erase, right click and choose ALL, then right click and choose Combine>NOT, then select your entire map. Then do it. This should erase anything that is outside the bounds of the map.

After this, do a zoom extents to make sure it got rid of the problem.

I hope Shessar's suggestions work, but regardless, please contact support. Per 3 shouldn't be causing the problems that you're having, but I rather doubt that anyone here other than Simon. Ralf and Remy have the inside CC3+ knowledge it will take to fix the problem.
  • Ive already contacted them, and in the meantime, I've uninstalled perspectives just in case that's the problem. I will give Shessar's idea a try, but I did notice something that wasn't happening before. When I try to open my castle map, get a small, blue dungeon@mnu floating in my work window. And the T:NAN,NAN in the subject bar. Does that combo mean anything to anyone? I'm terrified that I have lost my castle fcw, and may have to start from scratch...again...

Lost your castle? Surely not. Lets allow the others to wake up and have a think before we reach that particular conclusion.

I've only just got my brain in thinking order this morning (its 6.20 am here), so I won't add anything more, other than to say that I have every faith in Simon, Remy and Ralf. If it can be saved, then they will know what to do.

I also have faith in Shessar. She's very good. I just am not awake to remember everyone righ tnow when I'm making lists of names :)
  • Shessar's fix didn't work either. Shessar, thanks for trying g though. The problem seems to be that there is nothing to zoom.

I'm going to email my fcw to Mark, and see if he can pull it up in his cc3+. But I'm going to act as if it's lost, shrug it off (sigh) and start over, and not waste any more time. At least I know exactly what I want to do this time around, so it should only take me three or four days to get back where I was.

But I just got an email from Ralf, let's see what he says.

Have to go out today, Storm, but that's just so you know I haven't lost interest - just contact for a few hours.
  • I haven't had any problems with Perspective 3 on CC3+. I have a A Win 8.1 laptop, 64-bit, 4 gigs ram, and a video chip. I haven't seen that type of NAN on the command line either.

Have you tried clicking on a map, not a character drawing, then switching to Perspectives once the map loads ?
  • I wasn't trying to use perspectives, Jim, I had just downloaded and installed it. And then my program started going wonky.

I have currently uninstalled it, and will try to reinstall and work out the kinks AFTER I get these other projects done.

On a good note... Ralf sent me a fix that worked, and I have my castle map back. I have to transfer the other two levels over to the new fcw, and I have to go back and redo my bitmap sizes, effects, and redo my sheets, which will take a few hours.... but at least it's hours and not days. So I really only lost a day and a half.

My program is still a little glitchy though. It's sluggish, and takes longer to load my maps. I'm hoping a new set of repairs, now that I've uninstalled perspectives will fix that.
  • Ah, okay. I misunderstood.
