Wrong Symbols When Placing
For some weird reason some of the wrong symbols are being placed on my map. I'm using Mike Schley's symbol set but wen I pick individual symbols they default to the old CC3 ones. The preview panel on the left shows the right symbol, yet once I select it to place, the wrong symbol becomes available at my cursor. I've even tried placing it and then hitting Redraw to no avail. The thing is, it's not just one symbol. For example, I load Shley's vegetation FSC and 50% of the symbols default to old ones instead of Shley's. Preview shows the correct artwork. Once selected, the wrong symbol arrives at my cursor and placement. I've already tried reloading the FSC pack and even rebooting the program. Neither seems to have fixed the problem.
What the heck is going on and how do I fix?

To fix it, go into the symbol manager (Symbols menu), and either
- Delete the offending symbols (Only do so if they are not in use on your map, as this will remove all instances of it from your map)
- Rename the offending symbol. This changes the name of the existing symbol in the map, so that there are no longer a collision.
One of these days, I need to get around to building the symbol catalog that you told me about. Could you make a step by step tutorial for that Monsen?
Thanks

1. Start a new map, select symbol catalog as the type, and overland symbol catalog as the style. (Or open up an existing symbol catalog, but it must be opened as a map file, NOT in the symbol catalog window)
2. Open up one of the symbol catalogs you wish to include in the symbol catalog window.
3. Click once on each symbol to include in the symbol catalog window (You don't need to place them, simply clicking on them in the catalog window will copy their definition to the new map)
4. Go to Symbols -> Symbol manager and rename each symbol in the catalog to something unique.
5. Repeat 3 and 4 for each additional catalog you wish to add.
6. In symbol manager, select ALL the symbols, then hit the button named Save as Catalog. (If updating an existing catalog as opposed to starting with a blank file, you can just hit the regular save button instead)
I printed it out this time - LoL!
