Mountains hidden behind trees when zooming in/out

I've finished creating a forest for my fantasy map and want to plop down a few mountains in the midst of the trees - that is place the mts on top of (overlapping) the trees.

This works fine, except when I zoom in or out CC3+ replaces the mountains are *behind* the trees. Is there a way to fix this?

  • Symbols like mountains get placed on the Symbols sheet.

You can add another sheet for the mountains, and then change properties menu using 'move to sheet' and move the mountains to that sheet.

    land
    symbols
    mountains
    river

The sheets are drawn top of the list first, then the next one, down through the list until all are drawn/
  • Thanks Jim, this makes sense now.

Looks like it's best to first Add a Mountains sheet and move it to the bottom of the list (below Forest & Symbols Trees sheets). Then draw the mts and move them to the Mountains sheet. Next draw the background trees on top of the mts and Refresh so the mts pop in front of the trees.

For aesthetic reasons another sheet of Foreground Trees may be necessary, so that the mts are sandwiched between background and foreground trees on the map.

However, I would suggest that you name the sheet SYMBOLS MOUNTAINS rather than MOUNTAINS. It will make placing objects on the sheet easier.
