The Elder Races of Kelleemah - CA3+

The Vigaferli are an old race and have been here longer than any of the fairy folk. And, the fairy folk have been here since the 2nd Shedim War 1,700 years ago. Vigaferli is not the name that they call themselves, for nobody can understand their mournful calls. Vigaferli is the name given to them by the Vagoth and it means, the man slaughterers. The Vigaferli move silently and attack with surprise while leaving no sign of their passage in the snow. They often hunt in small bands of two to five members. But within the far northern valley of Kalladalr, they move more openly and often call out to each other. The sound travels over a great distance. The Vigaferli are fierce horned beasts that are as powerful as five warriors; their call should instill dread. But, those who have returned from the Kalladalr speak well of this place. As dangerous as it is, the varying tones of their calls echoing across the valley are described as haunting, but beautiful.

    The Centaurs,

    The Centaurs of Talivadia had faced orc incursions ever since the last Shedim War, but they had always been in small bands raiding villages along the Centaurs southern border. The Orc Horde took them by surprise and forced them to evacuate their lands south of the river. Dorian and Satyr allies soon arrived to bolster their numbers. But the horde was not led by common Orcs. Large formations of Half-Orcs held the center line. They were dressed in black armor, held black shields bearing a white skull, and were armed with mighty swords. Half-Orcs often led bands of Orcs, but never so well armored and armed, and never is such numbers. The horde marched forth into battle. Eight days passed. They were kept south of the river, but he city walls on the south side of the river did not hold. The southern half of Talivadia was put to the torch and the Centaurs were forced to destroy every bridge that linked the two halves of the city. Some of their kin were stranded on the wrong side of the river. They did not know how much longer they could keep the Orcs from crossing. In desperation, the allies pooled their treasures and sent for the Telchine mercenaries of Ialys, led by the Curete known as Lycus. The allies held for another five long days and nights, and on the morning of the 6th day, the Telchine ships of Ialys were spotted off shore south of the river. The Telchine Gnomes landed behind the horde and nothing could be seen of them. The sounds of battle lasted all day and all night, but by morning, only the crackling embers of the southern half of Talivadia could be heard. The Telchine ships were gone and the Orcs were either slain or had fled. To this day, we do not know what dark magic the Telchine summoned against the Orcs. But nothing in the south, within 50 leagues of the river will grow and the land is barren and black. The ruins of the southern half of Talivadia still remain, for none have dared crossed over the river to explore what remains. The Half-Orcs of Mavros has never returned.

    The Tuniit are an elder race and appear to be a subspecies of mankind. They have a very simple language and do not use runes of any kind to record their history. They have a more pronounced brow and a larger and wider nose than most humans. They are slightly bigger than most and are a lot stronger. They are a simple people and hunted in the valleys and the coasts of Sutheimr before the coming of the Vagoth. The Vagoth traded with them; trading metal items, clothing, and other items needing skill that the Tuniit did not have for whale, seal, animal hides and walrus. From time to time violence erupted, but they were few. Everything changed when the plague spread throughout the Tuniit tribes. The Vagoth had this sickness first, but it affected them little. For the Tuniit though, it was deadly. Within months, most of the Tuniit had died. Small bands survived by burning their dead and their villages and migrating far to the north where little grows. Few are seen these days and they actively avoid contact with mankind. The only lands along the coast that they still occupy is between the lands of the Vagoth and the Namu. It is said that they are immune to the plague. This land is known as Kadzait, which is south of the great ice wall of Adlivun.

    Where most people make up a couple of races and a world with a comparatively sketchy history (my worlds of Ethran and Errispa included), you make something that is so complex and so detailed that I sometimes wonder if yours isn't the real world, and ours is the make believe one!

    The Adlet live in the mountains that run along both the western and eastern side of Kadzait. Adlet is a Tuniit word meaning, dog men. They appear to be related to the Knolls of the southlands but are a reddish brown in color and are more feral. They have been known to hunt the members of fellow tribes during the winter months when food is scarce. They are very territorial and their packs will attack those that enter their hunting grounds. They relish the taste of the Vigaferli and will sometimes team with other tribes to attack large bands of them. They will sometimes come out of the mountains and foot hills to hunt the lands of the Tuniit, but they fear fire which the Tuniit use against them. As such, the Adlet and the mountains where they dwell have acted as a protective barrier for the lands of the Tuniit. Legends say that Adlet were born by the Goddess Niviarsiang.
