    The Atikans,

Towards the end of the Faith Wars, gnomish refugees fled central Brython to escape the Cyclops. They wandered the Beorgumende in the lands of the Gotnar and made many enemies, for they raided whatever settlements that they came across. Eventually, they established the Mines of Mount Atika. They were led by Queen Oen and her son, Prince Akaios, but the Queen was as ruthless to her people as she was to the Gotnar. The Prince led a popular uprising against his mother with the help of local Gotnar allies and the Queen was forced to flee along with her followers. The Atikans are now on friendly terms with their Gotnar neighbors. The Atikans are tied to the elements of the air and ride the great eagles that inhabit the mountain range. They worship Uranus, Father Sky along with Aether, the god of light and the heavens. They have an affinity for mining like the Dwarves, but prefer to live above ground.

Are we missing a picture? Where did the Gnomes of Kelleemah go?

Unless... you posted them somewhere else and I'm just getting confused! LOL

It was just a quick note about the Gnomish people. I wanted to set the stage for them since they are not carbon copies of the traditional image of what a Gnome is. You may have noticed that my fey are far less noble than what is generally out there. The Gnomes in particular, are outside the beaten path.

I think your characters are far more believable than the more noble versions. I look forward to seeing and reading about them :-)

    The Gerana,

Queen Oen and her people fled central Brython to escape the Cyclops towards the end of the Faith Wars. The Gnomes wandered through the lands of the Gotnar and raided many settlements before establishing the Mines of Mount Atika. Soon after though, her son led a popular uprising against her and the Queen and her followers were forced to flee.

With the countryside full of the tribes of the Gotnar, they had no choice but to flee to the haunted swamps of the Gerana river delta where she established their new home. The Gnomes of Gerana are fierce pirates who raid both the shipping routes and the coastal communities of the upper Beorgumende. During the winter months, they also conduct raids inland and up river.

Some of the most evil of the Gnomish race have bound themselves to Chaos and embraced the warping power of the void. These Gnomes have the ability to shapeshift into various terrifying creatures. Queen Oen is one such being that has been through the dark ritual. It is said that she can transform into a giant bat like monster. Indeed, her people are tied to the elemental forces of the air and she has power over many of nature’s dark creatures who fly. Her favorites are crows, bats, and vultures.

The Gerana worship the primordial gods and in particular, they worship Nyx, the goddess of the night. In addition, Queen Oen and her closest confidants also worship Nemesis, the goddess of Retribution. For Queen Oen and many of her followers seek revenge against Prince Akaios and all those who helped him overthrow the queen.

She looks too beautiful to become a bat, Charles, but don't change her. I still like her.

    The Chalybe,

Between the lands of the Gotnar and the Ogham, there ley a set of mountain ranges that run from the Dvr-Gamel southwest towards the coast. These ranges are known for their volcanoes. The one to the north is known as Golkoy, while the one to the south is known at Ulubey. As these mountain ranges come together near the foothills of Dvr-Gamel, they dwindle to nothing more than hills and small ridges. The mountain ranges and the hills are known collectively as O Torque De Lume, the Torc of Fire.

The inhabitants of these lands are the Gnomes of the Chalybe. There are three small kingdoms here. The Kingdom of Fornak is along the northern ridge while the Kingdom of Trazon is along the southern ridge. The Kingdom of Hallis consists of the hills, small ridges, and the foothills of Dvr-Gamel. The Gnomes of Fornak and Trazon are miners by trade, while the Gnomes of Hallis are famous for their Smithies. The Chalybe Gnomes are closely tied to the earth. They are all blessed with good kings that care more for living than they do for death or power. The King of Hallis is known as Kizilir. The King of Fornak is known as Yesiir. And, the King of Trazon is known as Gunpinar. They get along well with both the Gotnar and the Ogham and earn a good living trading with them. Like all Gnomes, they worship the primordial gods, but they have special affinity for Gaia the Earth Mother, Hemera the goddess of the Day, and Phanes the god of Procreation.

    The Telchine,

The Telchine live on three islands within the region known as the Claw. This region consists of many islands and peninsulas that jut out from the mainland. Other people who live within this region are the various Free Peoples in the North, the Slave Masters of Sabine, the Dorian Seafarers, the Satyrs of Agriavouna, the Harpies of Dankana, and the Centaurs of Talivadia.

The Telchine Gnomes are drawn to the water. Their three islands are Ialys, Kamir, and Lindos. Like all Gnomes, they worship the primordial gods. On Ialys, there is a temple to the god Pontus & his consort, the goddess Thalassa. They are the deities of all that live within the ocean. On Kamir, there is a temple to the Nesoi, minor goddesses of islands. Lastly, on Lindos, there are two temples; one is to Ananke, the goddess of inevitability and compulsion, with the other one being to Chaos, the goddess of the void.

The Telchine are ruled by the Curetes, a council of 9 of the most evil Gnomes in all of Kelleemah. All have partaken of the dark ritual of the void and can change into fearsome monsters of the sea. The head of the council is Ormenos. The other members are Argyron, Chalcon, Cryson, Megalesius, Mylas, Nicon, Simon, and Lycus. All are subject to rages and many a slave have met their grizzly end within the sacrificial fighting pits of the Curetes.

The Gnomes of the Telchine are blood enemies of the Dorian Pantheon. If it was not for the rules set forth by the Grigori, the Olympians would have destroyed the Telchine, regardless of the death and destruction that would have been let loose by the Telchines poison that kills not just the living, but the land itself.

They mostly keep to themselves, although, they have been known to commit piracy from time to time. They do not need the gold and jewelry, they just get bored and go forth seeking blood. Lycus is more adventurous than most and he and his followers sell their services as mercenaries to those few who can afford them. It was his army that saved the Centaurs of Talivadia and their allies from the Half Orcs of Mavros. To this day, nothing grows to the south of Talivadia for many leagues. Lycus does not care about the cause, nor does he really care about the money, what he cares about is his insatiable bloodlust. The high price of his services are to insure that the prey is of suitable caliber. Lycus and his mercenaries worship Thanatos, the god of death; and Menos, the god of Doom.

That sounds like it would be a most gorgeous coastline to draw with all those islands and peninsulas...

Somewhere in your house, Charles... I don't know why, but I keep imagining the most humungous and very beautiful map of all these places, so full of such very different and colourful people. It would have to be huge - perhaps covering the entire wall of a special fantasy room.

Do you have such a map?

If you do, I would be most interested in seeing it - as a reference point so I can mentally plot where everyone lives :-)

That is part of my quest - LoL!

Once I am done detailing the races using CA3+, I will be going back to mapping the many regions of Kelleemah.

Here is a posting that has most of my regional maps with descriptions that I have done so far:

    http://forum.profantasy.com/comments.php?DiscussionID=5921&page=1#Item_20

PS; this is the 4th version of my world and the only map that I still have of the whole thing is a hand drawn one. :-)

    Ah HA!

You see! I knew it had to be somewhere. Every fantasy world has a map, even if it only exists in the head of the writer.

There's quite a lot of genuine interest in hand drawn maps on Cartographer's Guild, you know ;-)

EDIT: and I'm sure no one will mind if you post a scan of it here (er... Would you mind, Ralf?). It would make the ultimate work in progress shot...

So far, I only have an "outline" for the world map on CC3+.

Here is the basic "outline" for the region known as the claw.

Here is the link to my very, very, very basic overall map of Kelleemah (an outline):

    The Creta,

The Creta are Dactyles; Gnomes that live within the earth and that are associated with the elements of fire. They are dark of skin and red of hair. Normally, they have little to do with the surface world, but the Gnomes of Creta are different.

The Gnomes of Creta used to live underground like their brethren. But, they were present at the final battle of the Faith Wars. These series of wars had been going on for over 700 years as the gods, weak from being cut off from the other worlds, fought among themselves for their very survival. They were one of the greatest tribes of Rodia and served Tartarus, the god of the deepest part of the underworld, and Erebus, the god of darkness and shadow. They battled the Olympians and their mortal followers.

By order of Ramiel, the Lord Arch Angel of the Grigori; the Grigori were to stay neutral in the wars. Ramiel and the other Arch Angels took little interest in the affairs of Kelleemah, and had only left their island of Eden to fight in the Shedim Wars. But, six of their brethren finally disobeyed. They are recorded as the Arch Angels: Danel, God has Judged; Kokabiel, Star of God; Shamsiel, Sun of God; Tamiel, Perfection of God; Zaqiel, Purity of God; and Sariel, Wisdom of God.

They took their legions of Nephalim, half-angels, and travelled to the fields of battle. They were fearsome to behold. Both sides stopped their fighting and sent envoys to ascertain the Grigori’s intentions. The envoys were slain upon their arrival and the Nephalim marched to war. The Arch Angels of the Grigori are more powerful than any so called gods of Kelleemah and they drove the gods from the battlefield and slaughtered their mortal followers. The Arch Angel Danel set forth an ultimatum to the gods, a set of rules for all to abide by. The consequences for ignoring these were obvious and the Faith Wars ended.

With the end of the Faith Wars at hand, Ramiel withheld his judgement of the six Arch Angels; but sent Ananel, Rain of God; Asahel, Made of God; and Batarel, Valley of God to the fields of battle to heal the wounded of both sides. The Gnomes of Creta come from those that were healed that day. Most of their leaders had been slain, but one rose among them. The Dactyli was known as Demonax. He had already earned respect for his great Wisdom and was chosen by his people to be their new leader.

This experience had changed the Dactyles that were present that day, especially Demonax. For not only was Demonax healed of his grisly wounds, but he was freed from his connection to the void of Chaos. As such, he set his people upon a new path and sent them forth into the world. They had become healers instead of destroyers. They searched for the secrets of the healing arts while helping all that they came across. They did this for ten long years while Demonax negotiated with the Grigori.

Ten years to the day, the survivors of that horrific battle and their families met once again. But this time, they met on the small island of Creta which was located off the coast of Eden. Demonax had secured the right for his people to live there and in return, they would provide their services as healers. For this service, they ask no price, for it is repentance for their old ways. The Gnomes of Creta live a monastic life and regardless of one’s race, religion, or philosophy, the Gnomes of Creta serves all who come to them. The Grigori provides for their protection and sustenance.

To this day, the Creta sends out expeditions to the far flung corners of the world in search for the secrets of healing and they send many to serve in the areas of great famine, disaster, disease, and war. Demonax has banned the use of weapons, so they must hire mercenaries to guard them when they leave the protection of Creta. They no longer worship Tartarus and Erebus, but worship instead: Khronos, the god of time; Eros, the god of love; and Hypnos, the god of sleep.

    The Rodians,

The Dactyles of Rodia live deep in the ground sharing these lands with the Kegelapan and the Sidri. Many other creatures also share the lands of Myrkheim and compete for the scarce resources. There are an unknown number of Rodian settlements, for little is understood of Myrkheim. Even the location of Rodia, the gnomish capital, is unknown.

It is said that they are led by the High Priest, Atabyrius. They worship Tartarus, the god of the deepest part of the underworld, and Erebus, the god of darkness and shadow. He rides a bronze bull into battle that breaths fire. He has been through the ritual that binds him to the void of Chaos and as such, is a shapeshifter. There is no account of the creature that he changes into, for it is obscured by billowing black smoke and fire.

Thankfully, the three main races of Myrkheim constantly wage war against each other and provide ample food for the denizens that prowl the dark tunnels of the earth.

  • The Ideans,

The Gnomes of Mount Idea are famous indeed, for this is the only location within Kelleemah where Adamantine can be found. Although magic items and weapons can be made of any material; Adamantine if the most powerful. This metal does not go into any ordinary magic item though. The magic items made with this metal are the stuff of legends. Often, they become the possession of the gods. Weapons, shields, staves, and more are made of Adamantine, but these are relics, legendary items of raw power. Indeed, the god swords are made of this material.

Mount Idea is ruled by three great guilds. The Guild Masters are Acmon, the Anvil; Damnameneus, the Hammer; and Celmis, the Caster. They rarely come out of their mountain stronghold. But they did fight against the Shedim and provided many of the most effective weapons used in those wars. They care little for the outside world and will make magical items for any who can pay. But these items take time, sometimes years, sometimes… tens or even hundreds of years. They worship Ourea, the god of Mountains. None of the Gnomes of Mount Idea are bound to the void of Chaos. And, they hold themselves apart from the petty squabbles of the gods. They did not participate in any of the battles of the Faith Wars, but made many weapons for the different sides.

  • Until a new update comes out, this finishes off the Fey of Kelleemah.

I am still working on the Humans of Kelleemah, the Old Races of Kelleemah, the Evils of Kelleemah, and the Council of the White Elves.

I am also thinking about doing a set on the Grigori and the Vampric species of Kelleemah.

I hope that you have enjoyed reading about the Fey of Kelleemah and seeing just how awesome CA3+ really is.

Thanks Ralf for such a great product!

Oh yes. Its been highly entertaining. Thank you for sharing these tribes and their tales, Charles. I'm looking forward to the new series (and... a map or two?) :)
  • Thanks Loopysue! I am working on both, but I have not had a lot of free time lately due to my internship. As such, I could get more out of the smaller projects.

You're talking to a Brit here... and I know this is going to make EVERYONE laugh at me, but I don't care a jot.

    What IS an internship?
  • edited July 2016
There is a short answer and a long answer.

I will give you the short answer and have left a link for the long answer.

An internship is temporary job for college students to give them experience in their industry of study. It may lead to regular position with the company after graduation and may also be worth college credit.

I am working on my MBA with a specialty in Marketing and took a full time, paid, graduate level marketing internship this summer that is worth 3 college credits (counts as a class towards my MBA). In addition, I also took a MBA course on Social Media Theory & Practice. As such, I have been real busy this summer. The short little projects using CA3+ were ideal for me and a lot of fun. I will be done with my final paper for this summer on Friday. :-)

    ROFL!

Thanks everyone. I understand now. In the UK, we call such things "work experience", or "sandwich placement".

I'm feeling really chuffed now - I did an internship in Cartography!
