Trace Feature

Learning Curve, oy vey. I've been through the tutorials and the videos. I don't seem able to use the Trace tool reliably. Sometimes it does exactly what I want. Most of the time, it highlights the entire coastline EXCEPT the part I want traces. I've tried clockwise and counterclockwise. can someone tell me what I am doing wrong?

I used to feel like a generally competent human being. Then I met CC3+.

    If the trace goes the wrong way, it is because you select the entity to be traced in the wrong location. The traces always go through the point of the entity you used to select it, so you need to pick that location carefully to make the trace go the way you want along the entity.
