The Rankest of Newbie Questions - Freehand Landmasses

In keeping with my policy of maximum personal grief, I have just embarked on a project of porting over some old hand drawn maps to CC3+ for possible publishing. I just bought the software, and just watched the tutorials.

How do I just freehand a landmass? I want to draw the coastlines, and then have CC3+ do its cool thing with filling in the textures and goodness.

I don't feel like I can get the shapes right with the polygonal tools, which seem to want to do their own thing. I'm an MS-Paint sorta guy. I scanned in the old hand drawings and added to them. Now, I want to do it properly, with the proper tool, by starting from scratch in CC3+.

Please help me, I have owned the software for four hours, and already resemble this.

There is a freehand tool found in the right toolbar set, but I do recommend you use the landmass and other drawing tools. You can gain much more fine-tuned control over the shape by placing your points with short distances from each other.

However, CC3+ does have a learning curve (And it works VERY different from Paint and other raster programs). I strongly recommend you read the manual and work through the tutorials in it before starting any kind of project, it will teach you the skills you need to use the program properly. (And make sure you have installed the latest update (found on your registration page), as this will ensure you have the latest version of the manual and example files as well as fixes for the software itself)

If you are coming from an MS-Paint base you will need to get used to the interface and how it does things. It is very powerful but nothing like the MS interface. When I started doing maps I felt the same way as you. I did the tutorials that came with the guidebooks and it did the job of getting me in the right space to make the software work.

If you open the software and open the Help Menu you should use the quickstart guide to get acquainted with the basic functionality. This will help you a lot.
