This is one release I've been very excited about. I loved the original Ravenloft Isometric Map.
I'm getting ready to hit the order button. Go check it out.

@warhound - I particularly like the wooden trapdoor we can see hanging open at the top of the pit. Nice touch, that.
Out of curiosity, how did you folks draw your floors? Did you draw the floor independantly or did you use the Room tool? I ask because I notice — in both maps — that the floor fill is straight rather than isometric. And, now that I look closer, it appears the wall fills are straight, too (except for the gray stone fill at the top of warhound's pit, which is angled).
Thanks for sharing and showing how powerful this new version of Perspectives is, and how quickly we can make good-looking and functional maps!
Cheers,
~Dogtag
I really can't wait to see what the rest of you do with this.
And Thank you Profantasy, Ralf, and all the other folks involved in this for taking the time to upgrade it from its cc2 version.
Nicely done on the quickie maps! @warhound makes me want to bust out Grimtooth's Traps when I get home.
Here is an example of what I mean. The artwork on the left is more modern and I consider it to be of a good enough style of art that I would be proud to make maps using it. The artwork in the middle bottom and on the right I will never use for anything ever. It just doesn't look good. Art has come a long way since the days of cc2 and I personally haven't seen anyone use that art style in a very long time. I hope the final version of this ditches the old style and creates all new awesome looking artwork for their buildings, instead of that old cc2 looking line art stuff.
As for new art... they have complete perspective symbol sets that match the DD3 style and the SS4 style. A new modern style to match SS3 would be wonderful.
Given how busy they are, and how time-intensive art development is, I think I'd prefer (at least for now) some detailed tutorials on making perspectives-compatible user-art, so we can all add to the perspectives library.
All the fonts installed with no problems in it which was a nice surprise given that that is usually a Windows issue.
Glad they did keep the old symbols. Comparability is a big thing as I have a good number of old CC3 & CC2 maps from various sources.
I did have to temporarily remove a bunch of folder from my hard drive as the install files were bigger than expected. Installing a CC3 or CC3+ item always eats up 1 or more gig of temp space during the install.
Will be playing with it this weekend. Have an idea I want to try out.
That being said, the new bitmap artwork IS the updated/better artwork for Per 3, don't expect an update on the vector side.
The wait was well worth it. The new art captures the 2D art perfectly. The bitmap fills look amazing in an isometric view. The fact that I can now have a matching isometric map of my 2D maps makes me giggle like a schoolgirl.
Thanks ProFantasy for yet another great tool!
so it's off to see what I can make with it. Hopefully something incredibly cool like a Japanese Castle or something!
After a brief run-through of the basic functions, P3 looks awesome! Glad I have a comfy chair. I'll be sitting in front of the computer for a while now.
I had to use CC3 Perspectives symbols for empty pits, empty vari-color pits, and guano. The empty pits are metal, without spikes.
Hopefully these will be added in future updates. I'll be posting my updated arcology top level exterior map, and you can see which ones i mean.
