I shrunk the map by 50%, the lettering is readable at the full size. I might add these to my Traveller site, but that might be a bit much to go back and add, currently, over 800 solar systems.
I have a number of empires, associations, etc. in two galaxy arms, on the other side of the Milky Way. That way I don't have to worry about putting something in an area already done by the Traveller folks.
I have thought about making solar system maps of the Empire, etc. home systems and maybe a few others.
I just finished up adding more UWPs, universal world profiles, to a spreadsheet... I was starting to lose track of which ones were what. I found several with a Starport on the web site, but not one in the spreadsheet, or vice-versa. I've found a few misspelled words and things like the sub-sector capital not having a star port... argh.
My sites are down for some reason, likely the web host as I can get everywhere else. But there are things I can do off-line to update my sites once they come back up.
I like this! I just have one question.... wouldn't you still see the stars of other solar systems in the background? Or am I missing something? I just seems to be there should be a field of stars in the background... but that's just me.
That depends on what you are looking at. Say for instance the view you are looking at is actually created on a computer screen in your starship and you just asked your computer to generate just the planets of the local solar system, this then would be that projection. Or for instance, if you were in one of the areas of space that have wide expanses that are not covered in stars. Maybe he is on the edge of one of those systems, so all he sees when he looks into to the void is pitch blackness staring back.
There are several backgrounds that come with it... I've thought of adding some NASA, careful of copyrights, from the Astronomy Picture of the Day archive as some photos are copyrighted.
I thought about adding one for this png, but decided not to.
I thought about that, but I do have a few systems noted in text on my Traveller site that are subjected to a planetary nebula forming a few light years away. So a nebula in the background would be correct.
Here is one using the other template. I used arc for the planet orbits and the orbit small tool for the moon orbits. The moons symbols are smaller than the default 1.7. The png is shrunk 50% from my typical 960x1200 pixels. That white dot lower right is a nearby star, not a rogue moon or planet.

work in progress, as both my rpg sites are.
