I agree. The free release of the the Herwin Wielink style again demonstrates the wonderful generosity of ProFantasy. Great software from a wonderful company!

I can't wait for them to take my money for the coolest release to date... Perspectives 3 looks amazing!
  • Great! !!

    i'll try this style soon
  • wait... is that the darker style that I've seen used? They added that style to cc3+? I love that look!!! I may have to go back and remake Larysia now! Thank you so much ProFantasy!!! And curse you too, I'm NEVER going to get my world built this way!!! I'm going to keep wanting to redo it to make it better! lol
  • downloaded and installed..OMG I can't wait to try this out!!!
  • Wow great news! The best overland annual of all time! Now all they need is to include the Satellite, 13th Age, Jonathon Roberts Overland and the default CC3 symbol catalog and I will be ready to go :). I use most of those annuals for textures and some symbols and then I will purchase CC3+ :)
  • but if they keep doing that, why would we purchase the annuals?
  • Good news! Im just waiting patiently for ALL my annuals from 2007-2014 to be available for CC3+. That is why I mostly still use CC3, I've got and use all the annuals in MANY of my maps...im not willing to let them go enough to fully commit to my CC3+
  • LadieStorm,

It may not be the full release, the original came out in two parts like the one set from last year.
It would be doubly awesome if we got the full set!

It is one of their most popular releases and giving it away now will show new users what all are in the old annuals.
That should boost sales when the old annuals become available for CC3+ and in addition it should boost sales for CC3+ since some people are worried about not being able to use the old annuals yet and have not made the move to the updated version of CC3+.

In any case, I can hardly wait until I get back home today!

    Thanks Profantasy!

PS: Just a bit of personal good news - I got a graduate level internship for the summer! Wish me luck!
  • Congratulations Charles! That is indeed good news, I wish you all the best :)

Thank you Profantasy for doing this. While I have used the style in cc3, the whole time I did I was wanting to be able to use the much better cc3+ because I can keep the sheets and effects turned on to see how the world will look.

I'm just like you Lorelei, I do the same thing. I like the annuals way too much to stick simply with cc3+. But if there is something in both then I auto go to cc3+ just because it runs more smooth.

Ladiestorm, I'm glad you are choosing to do your world in this style because when you first started describing it I thought that this style would be perfect for it. And now the benefit of re doing it is that you have practice with cc3+ and map making so your maps will turn out much much better. This is one update of a world I am really looking forward to witnessing.

I'm on my third or fourth itteration of Crestar. At my old site I had multiple overland map styles there at the same time. Thats one of the reasons I started over from scratch. To get all of them the same style.

Of course, I came up with a method to have several styles...

Ancient maps, one of the B&W styles.

More recent game-time, one of the Fantasy Annual styles.

'Current' era Crestar, 13th and Fayden symbols.

Now, if I can just make myself stick with those three... oh wait, there are th parchment styles for pirate maps !

No, I still cannot stick with just one mapping style for Crest of a Star.

    Funny you should ask...
    Dogtag excitedly asked Ralf:Questions:
    1. Does this mean PF is making the Herwin Wielink style available by default in CC3+?! Wow!
    2. Does the Herwin Wielink overland style in CC3+ include the drawing tools and symbols from both annual issues of the Herwin Wielink style?
Ralf promptly answered:Thanks! Yes, the HW style will now be included in base CC3+ and that's both parts of the style
(For those wondering about this both-parts thing, I link to them in this post to FarsightX3 earlier.)

    Congratulations!
  • first thing listed in the readme is Perspectives 3 support in CC3+ 4a.
  • Congratulations Charles!!! Of course now, I'm curious to know what you're majoring in!

And I will go back and remake those maps... But not right now... I have to finish the maps I'm working on, then finish my general town/ city maps... Complete the world history, and start working on the ACTUAL campaign, before I lose everything in my head.
  • Thanks everyone!

    LadieStorm,

I went back to college for a career change and got a Bachelors Degree in Marketing and I am currently working on my MBA.
  • Nice !

If only I'd known this annual was about to be released in CC3+, I wouldn't have bought it and started my map on CC3 though :P. Can CC3 maps be opened with CC3+ ?

Yes, as long as the same artwork is installed.
You may wish to run the FFIX command after opening it in CC3+, that fixes the raster references to correctly reference the new CC3+ data directory, but note that this also will cause the map to no longer work in CC3, so keep a copy of the original.
  • Ok, thanks ! I'm leaving tomorrow for Iceland, so I'll try this out when I get back :)
