Issue with fill on polygons using edge fade inner

Just starting out for the most part so I apologize in advance if I am doing something obvious.... I seem to be having an issue that these holes appear in the polygons when I save as JPG. While in the file they only show up at certain zoom levels and clear if I zoom in or out. Any ideas on what I am doing wrong?

Example below in the roads has the two bleed through of the snow behind, and more difficult to tell since i tried to cover it up in the snow over the cobblestone it had two lines like a break in the fill that the edge fade accented.

  • Just a quick question... You aren't using the transparency fills are you? Any fill that has a T at the end is a transparency fill. What that .means is pretty much what it says...there will be spots that are transparent... Where you can see the background D under each it. And yes, I believe an inner edge.fade.will make them more pronounced. I would check that first.

If that's not the issue, then someone more experienced than I will have to take a look.

If you could post the .FCW someone could pull it up in their cc3 and take a look at your issue and be better able to diagnose your problem.

    I hope I've helped at least a little :)
  • I forgot to mention... If you ARE using a transparency fill that's easy to fix. Click on the change properties button, then click on the edge of your fill to select it. Right click ' do it'. When the change properties box opens out a check on the bitmap fill, then click on it and scroll down to the fill you want that DOESN'T have the T. Then click ok. That should change it to the correct fill.

I have had this happen to me as well. I've browsed the boards and have found some topics related to this issue, but not an actual solution, or "why" it happens. Anyway, try saving in a resolution a bit lower, that tends to help. I found when i save at a REALLY high res for a png or bmp this will happen. My fix? I just put a 2nd sheet underneath with the same fill style, or a slightly different one if it "blends" nicely. Work with what ya got, i always say! If any of the more proficient users have any idea how to fix this, i would LOVE to know!

BTW, very nice job blending your path and the snow! i really like this map!
  • For the Edge Fade,

Do you have it set on percentage of map width, or by units.

I have recently had to change a lot of my settings from percentage of map width to By Units to get stuff to look right.

I had to play with the settings some.

    Just an Idea.
  • Ladiestorm... its not a transparent fill ;).

Lorelei...your method worked I made the export smaller resolution and it fixed the road issues.

Charles...Im going to have to mess around with different settings to try that out.

Thanks for all the help guys!
  • Lol... Sorry xantin, I had to ask... I made that mistake myself, very recently :)
