Glow on text does not work

I have watched these tutorial videos; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBMb3plPQUI
They are great btw.

But when I try to copy how to make texts (offwhite text with blu Outer line), by using he glow effect using the glow effect, nothing happens.

I have tried the Effecton command, turn effects on when loading etc.

PS! I use CC3+ v3.70 btw.

Anyone can help?

Could you post an FCW file that shows how you are attempting to get the glow working?

Normally you place your text in the TEXT sheet and apply effects to that sheet to do what you want.

OK, looks like this might be a simple solution.

Toggle effects on. Go to the TEXT sheet. You will notice 2 effects applied to this sheet. One is the outer glow, the other the drop shadow. Select the outer glow effect and click the edit button.

You will notice that the glow color is black (RGB 0,0,0). Click on the black color square and select the color you want to be your outline, or enter the values you want in the RGB boxes. Click OK, then click OK again from the Drawing Sheets and Effects dialog.

That's it, you're set! When you click redraw your text should take on the correct outline color you selected.

However, I noticed that not all your text is on the TEXT sheet. A cursory look shows that "PARADIS" is not, so it will not take that effect. I did not check the others but you might want to verify all of your text. In addition, at the current scale of your text the outer glow effect and the drop shadow will be barely noticeable when you are zoomed out to see the entire map. You might want to scale the text if that is the view you will use most.

I also noticed that your sheets are ordered in a way that will/might cause you problems in the future. The SEA and ROADS sheets, as an example, are lower on the Sheet List than the TEXT sheet. This means they will be drawn after the TEXT sheet. That will cause any text you place on the TEXT sheet to be overlayed by anything you place on the SEA or ROADS sheet. For an example of this problem in action take a look at the area near PARADIS. You have a LAND sheet which has the greenish landmass, a COASTLINE sheet that has the blueish coastline, and your BYGNING KJENT sheet that has the castle symbol. When the map is drawn you see that the coastline is overlayed on top of your castle. That is because your BYGNING KJENT sheet is placed in between your LAND sheet and your COASTLINE sheet. The drawing order is going to be objects on the LAND sheet, objects on the BYGNING KJENT sheet, and finally objects on the COASTLINE sheet.

You might want to review the user manual section on sheets and effects to get a good understanding of how objects are ordered and drawn in CC3. This will save you valuable time when you create your maps as you won't have objects that seem to disappear after a redraw.

    Hope that helps.
