Need help with Vintyri/CSUAC installation, please...

I've downloaded Vintyri's symbol set, and the CSUAC... A d I'm looking forward to using them!

I started reading g the Installation instructions, and ran I to a snag. The PDF shows how to access the hidden files, but I think that's through Windows XP, or 7. The laptop I'm using has Windows 8, and I can't figure out how to get to the hidden files. Does anyone k is how to do this for Windows 8?

  • We had a big duscussion in here, it may not be on the first page of posts anymore. Just do a search on 'CSUAC' and read them for problems and how to solve them on installing the CSUAC.

You're probably best off starting with JimP's suggestion. Windows 8 is a version I avoided like the black plague. I have no idea what it wants.

Curious question: Why haven't you done the free update to Windows 10? I know no Windows 8 user who has regretted the update.

I hope you don't mind me adding my two cents to that one.

I few months ago, I built a new computer and decided that since I was going from scratch, I'd go with the newest operating system out this time.

Windows 10 works great. No complaints there. They made some weird choices, like replacing photo viewer with something newer that I hated. But there are work arounds for things like that and in no time I had back all the programs I preferred.

    Everything worked... but it sucked!

Windows 10 is one big freaking commercial. You can't even play solitaire without ads and pleas for you to give them money to unlock new features.

I would gladly go to Windows 8 at this point over Windows 10. A horrible interface is (for me) much preferable to living in this non-stop advertisement.

But, as to your question LadieStorm, the others are completely right. The previous threads on CSUAC should have everything you are looking for. Once you get it set up, you are gonna have a lot of fun with it!

Open Windows search (In Win8 it is accessed through the charm bar)

In Windows search type in 'Show Hidden Folders'

    Follow directions

    As for WIndows 10....

I love windows 10. It has solved all of the issues I was having with my graphics drivers. Old Guy, do a google search on how to turn off Windows 10 tracking. It is well worth the several minutes it takes to do and will stop the adds.
  • I have 3 computers, Vista, 8.1, and 10. I prefer Vista. The terrible thing is, I never thought I would say that about Vista.

I've used all 3 to make maps. No problem there. Its the changes to the Windows interface that makes it difficult to get to the programs I want to use. I solved it, but I shouldn't have had to do so.
  • Part of the reason is no internet at home... Have to have Internet access to do it. Second...I like to wait a year after a new OS comes out, before I get it. Give them a chance to fix all the bugs, first. Third, Im Fi ally used to Windows 8! Somewhat...
