Tome of Ultimate Mapping?

So I just purchased and downloaded the tome of ultimate mapping. I got it home installed the set up, and clicked on the PDF to start my journey to better, more complex mapping....and I can't get the file to open.
I did receive an error.... Something about not connecting to dd3 server. What? Please tell me I don't need internet to use this tome!!! If I do... Im screwed
