    Ugh! We'll be here. ;-)
  • Using a borrowed computer... I tried updating my Bios, didn't work. Trying to reverse that Restore points not doing it. I've contacted some online help.
  • I hope you get it working again soon. The side of mine broke open the other day and it still works but I'm afraid of it shocking me.

How is it broken? What are you seeing when you boot up?

error message: 'Automatic repair cannot fix the problem. Restarting' And then I get a menu with a number of possibilities. I've tried a Windows refresh, but not a laptop refresh as I am uncertain if I've copied all files I need to copy off. Like emails and various numbers for software I have no way to recover them other than from the laptop.

edit: We should whisper fix ideas so as to not clog up the Profantasy mapping forums.
  • WIndows 8.1 is the operating system. Mine is one of those with a hidden area of the hard drive being where the recovery disk is located. No install disk. I cannot select system repair, I can only let 'Automatic Repair' run, which does nothing.

I did a web search, and found lots of Asus laptop owners are being hit by this. Its their eSupport BIOS upgrade that is failing. There are a number of posts on the Asus forums, and no help there.
  • I decided that since I have almost always forgotten files on an old computer when it failed, I bought a 'mini-desktop' which, except for the case size, is apparently a laptop. It has a laptop style power adapter.

I'll put the laptop hd in an external case, make sure I have everything copied over, and then use it for storage.

Ah well, I'm back and this can sink.
  • Well, Win 10 wants to install into C:\Program Files (x86) and wouldn't let me change it. I was tired and qwent ahead and let it after 2 attempts at editing the browse part of the install.

So I removed the CC3 and Update 11install from Program Files. Went into File Explorer and created C:\Profantasy\CC3\ folders. Reinstalled.

I installed in the folders I wanted it to be in. FastCad cannot find Menu. So I checked the registry and found only one entry for CC3 being in Program Files. I deleted it, and rebooted. Still no Menu found. I can see the files in the C:\Profantasy\CC3\ folder.

I'm currently doing a repair of CC3 and see if that works. I'll let you know.
  • And the repair worked. Hurrah ! Now to copy al the other gigabytes worth of non-mapping files I had on there... ( a small quiet argh...)
  • I have had to deal with that, so I feel your pain...
