Trimming regional map/map quality

This is a 2 part question. Ive made a 600x400 overland map and began creating a region within it. Now on completion, I want to just cut out that region to use in my VTT(fantasy grounds). Is there anybody that can easily explain how to do this? Also for saving my maps as a JPEG to use in my VTT(fantasy grounds), is the quality never going to be as good as what I see in CC3 when zooming in? When I open it in my VTT its horribly pixalated when I zoom in. Thanks in advance for advice!

  • Jpg, bad... png is better.

In CC3, when you zoom in the software loads a different set of fills. So a saved map in jpg or png doesn't have that ability. Still should work fine.

As for making small maps of parts of a larger map: search in these forums for a topic of 'large maps to small'.

In CC3 first zoom in to the part you want to use in your VTT. Then use save as rectangular PNG to select only the area you want to use in the VTT. You might have to adjust the number of pixels you want to capture on the settings. Select the area you want to capture, and you're done. The saved file will be a png of your selection, and the resolution should match what you were seeing when you zoomed in on CC3.

    Hope that helps.

So I tried to save it as a rectangular PNG, but after I hit save, nothing actually saves. No save is created. Am I missing something?

You have to select the corners of the rectangle so the save will start. In CC3 always make a point to look at the left hand lower corner (command line). You will notice if the software is expecting input from the user.
