Trying out the Strip Maps from the 2009 Annual

Hi everyone.

Today at work I decided to try making a Strip Map from the 2009 Cartographers Annual. This one is to show the route between the Forest of Lumier and the Drunk Dwarf Hills.

Love it, and look forward to doing this style when I get to it. looks like you have mixed and matched a few different symbols from other annuals here - a great idea.

Yeah, I mixed a few. I saw the artwork from the Ancient Realms and thought that it would look great on a strip map. It turned out much better than I hoped it would. I may try doing one in a more modern style to fit Call of Cthulu someday, or maybe use dungeon symbols to show a sewer system.

Wow!

I love it, I can hardly wait until they update the old annuals so those of us with the new version can use it.

It would be great for my trade routes. :-)

I can't wait for them to be updated to cc3+ either. Origionally I wanted to use the Mike Schley symbols but since it isn't available in cc3+ yet, I couldn't.

But I just had a look at the Herwin Weilink symbols and those would look great on a strip map too.

The use of the badges from "Ancient Realms" is a brilliant idea. Really makes the map stand out. I love the strip map style, can't wait for it to be updated to CC3+.

Thanks guys, you know, you can do these in CC3+ as well. You don't have to wait until the annual is updated. All you have to do is section off parts of your map with long strip like sections and then add the small elements. Of course you could also find some scroll artwork that looks similar to the ones I used from the annual and load them into your symbol catalogue. Then make them large enough to fit together like the ones here. Then just start placing the elements on the map and you're done!:)
