Forest Fill not showing

I select the default terrain button.
Style, Overland CC3.

Select any forest, including jungle.

Draw out the poly. The fill area changes color, the trees appear, and then the screen flashes and the trees disappear.

They are not on any sheet or any layer.

Using any tool such as move, properties whatever. Click around in the colored area, and the trees appear. Change something, or cancel, and the trees disappear.

How do I make the trees stay shown please?

  • So I closed the map I was working on and reverted to an earlier save and it's working now.

Frustrated and annoyed with this software.
  • Yes it can be frustrating and I've experienced this. What's probably happening is that your new poly is on a layer that is beneath others at that spot. When you click a forest to draw, look at the box at the top, the one that starts with S: I think that's called the layers box. It should say "Sybools Trees" if you're doing woods. If it doesn't, click it and manually select the layer in the window that pops up. This time when you finish drawing and the screen redraw, your poly should stay visible.

Is there a way to stop it from autoswitching sheets?

I was just filling in some mountain symbols and was trying to reorder them so that they drew correctly. I started on the mountain sheet and about 4 of the symbols ended up on a different sheet than the one I was working on and I had to go through each and every sheet to find them, then delete them, then redraw them.
  • You can choose your own layer for symbols, but the symbol catalogs are designed so that symbols always go onto the SYMBOLS sheet. Re: Postings above. Don't confuse the Sheets box (S:) with the layers box (L:). The best way out of this problem is to get the Tome of Ultimate Mapping from the ProFantasy website and then learn from it how these things function. Author Remy Monsen tells you how things are in an easy-to-understand and well illustrated manner.
