What kind of markers on onlinemaps?

Hi,

currently I'm extending my "CC3+ to OnlineMap"-Converter ow however this is called.

What I'm not pleased with is the kind the markers are looking. They are the default "Oh I'm a blue bubble"-kinda.
What would you expect from a marker on a fantasy-map?

To show what I'm talking about, open one of the links and open the menue on the top right.

Territorial/Political

Maybe some kind of scroll would be nice? Looking for ideas :)

Greetings

  • Oh, I just put text on all of my maps. I don't use markers.
  • For markers I use them a lot in Realm Works and on my maps they just have a little short paragraph or 2 about the location that you can see that just gives a quick player info. Anything more detailed are set up on separate text entries

So just having a little scroll with a sentence or two indicating some basic information is good.

Additionally you could have other symbols you could toggle on or off to show military units or economic things or click on that show military or economic things.

    Economics being:

a.) displaying some symbols to indicate what sort of services or goods the area is known for.
b.) showing or hiding trade routes or known sea routes.

Military showing some stuff to give an idea of what military force the location has like Troop strength etc.

Ancient Realms, from the 2015 Annual, has the circular markers in it.

It comes with instructions on how to build your own symbols.

For Troop movements - This site has a bunch of free paper miniatures that you can easily give transparent backgrounds: http://www.juniorgeneral.org/

    Below is an example:

This is what I want to do with the figures from Character Artist when they update it for CC3+.

I want people to actually see Trolls in the swamps and villagers in the villages.
