CC3+ Update 3 - antivirus false positive?

I am trying to download the CC3+ Update 3 from the Registration - Download Updates, and my antivirus (Avast) is blocking due to triggered virus/malware alert.
Avast is notorious for false positives so I assume that is likely the issue?

CC3 Update 11 downloaded fine, no problem.

I downloaded Update 3 on another PC, here is the MD5 checksum:
d032ade6053ddd98a1d1b8acebd3dc56 *CC3PlusUpdate3.exe

EDIT:
I copied the update file over to this PC and scanned and no threat detected.
Still kicks up the AV warning and blocks Chrome from downloading it on this PC though.

Ran it through a couple of AVs, and they don't report anything, so I assume it is a false positive.

    Your MD5 matches my copy.

Yeah, I've been using Avast for years and it has a long history of reporting false positives on the partial downloads from PF, during the d/l. I keep reporting them back to Avast but it keeps happening. The easiest thing to do is to temporarily disable Avast real-time protection before downloading from ProFantasy. If you still want to be cautious, scan the downloaded file before running it, once it's saved in your folder.

  • I've heard from so many sources, for so many years, that Avast constantly reports false negatives and that the company is ridiculously unresponsive regarding these reports from customers.

That was enough to drive me to an alternative product.

Yeah, I can confirm that Avast (especially recently) increasingly reports false positives. No other av porgrams give any indications that anything is wrong with the downloads.
  • I have never had Avast do that to me (yet, knock on wood). I have had it interrupt the install process, but when it is done with its scan the install resumes as if nothing had happened.

The issue for me typically happens when downloading from the PF site. For example, Avast interrupted my download of the latest issue of the Cartographer's Annual, causing the download to fail.
  • i have often had to temporarily shut down avast to download some files from the pf site. worth the minor inconvenience, and i just disable avast while doing the download and install, and on not doing any other 'online' related activity until it completes.
