Hex grid question/problem...
Okay, question pertaining to work on my Ethacia map and hex style.
The map is 2000 x 2000 and I'd like to put a 1 mile hex grid on there but every time I go to add one CC3+ crashes on me. I had a couple of ideas to try and rectify this but they don't really work...
First I just added 1 mile hexes to a 100 x 100 square with the intention of copying it as needed, however I can only add hex symbols inside the confines of the first added 100 x 100 area.
Second I manually changed the USER HEXGRID snap settings to the 1 mile hex settings but it didn't let me add the hex symbols every mile.
I don't need the actual 1 mile grid overlay if that's an issue but I do want to be able to break the 10 mile hexes down to 1 mile as such...a 1 mile hex smack in the middle of the 10 mile.
Any thoughts or fixes?

Lets make sure there is nothing on the Map Border layer.
Go to the layer dialog and select the left most block beside Map Border
Then click on Hide All and Freeze All.
Click the Delete button.
If Map Border deletes, you really don't have a map border.
If it says there is an object there, you still have a map border and depending on where it is, that is the problem.
If it wont delete, zoom out. Change properties, right click and select change color.
Change it to zero, which is black.
Now you can see your map border.
Is it a small area, or is it at the edge of the map ?
To fix it:
- Unlock groups (The locked button down in the righthand corner)
- Thaw the HEX/SQUARE GRID layer
- Use the erase command on the border line around the grid.
- Lock groups again
- Copy the grid and place it next to the old one (Modifiers, like endpoint, is really helpful here).
- (Optional) Draw a new rectangle around the grid on the HEX/SQUARE GRID layer and group it with all the grid parts
- Freeze the HEX/SQUARE GRID layer
