from huge to small

I'm new to CC3 and have imported a world from FT. I took a section to make more detailed but it is still large. I then tried to get a smaller section and make more details in it. I'm doing something wrong probably but I just don't know what. How do I go from a large map (ie miles wide) to a smaller map and put details in? Also how do I scale towns? If seeing my map would help to answer questions let me know as it is over the MB limit here.

Have you read the "Local Map from Regional Map" tutorial? It is a good starting point. If you don't have it, you can get it by going to your registration page, and then click the "Map Maker's Chest" link.
