Grid sheet change

I would like to have 3 different size grids on my map, each on a seperate sheet so i can hide individual ones as needed. Is this possible? no matter what sheet I am on it always puts the grid on the GRID sheet.

  • You should be able to create new sheets for your various grids. Create the first on GRID then select and move it to whatever other layer. Then repeat for the second grid and it's own sheet. Finally place your main grid and leave it on the GRID sheet.
  • Could you possibly explain how to select the grid and actually move it to another layer?
  • 1. Click on Sheets and Effects button (stacked yellow button on the left) to bring up the Drawing Sheets and Effects panel.
    2. Click Add to add a new sheet. Name it Grid 5.
    3. Click Move Up button to place it between GRID and SYMBOLS FLAT on the list. Click OK.
    4. Click the Change Properties button (Bucket/colorbar/Aa button next to the eraser on the left).
    5. Click the grid on the map to highlight it in pink. Make sure it says [1 selected].
    6. Right click and select Do It.
    7. Check the box for Sheet and select Grid 5 then click OK. We've now moved the current grid over to the new sheet.
    8. Click the Sheets and Effects button again. Check the left most box next to GRID to select it. Check the right most box next to Grid 5. Click OK.
    9. Select Draw from the menu bar and select Hex of Square Overlay. Select your new grid settings. Click Apply.
    10. You now have a different grid on the GRID sheet and your original grid hidden on the Grid 5 sheet.
    11. To swap between the two turn on or off the H (right most checkbox on sheet list). Remember you need to have another sheet selected in order to hide a sheet.

    1) Create the first grid overlay
    2) Go into the Sheets & Effects dialog
    3) Rename the GRID sheet to something else (Coarse Grid, in my current project)
    4) Create another grid overlay - it will make a new GRID sheet
    5) Repeat steps 2 - 3 using another unique name (Fine Grid)
    6) Repeat steps 4-5 to create as many different grids as you're looking for
