Any way to do this style?

Hi all,
I'm really interested in the HArkenwol style map. I love the way the forests are done as well as the grass lands. Is it possible to do this? If so, how would I go about it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Wow!

This is nice.

Not so sure on the hills though.

I especially like the river as it is not two evenly spaced lines making up the banks.

Yeah, IT was made by the guys at wizards of the coast. A 4th ed Adventure I believe. But I wasn't able to find out how it was done. Was it done in CC3, Photoshop or a combo ? Would really like to know how to do this in CC3 if it's possible.

So, a bit of research later and I found out that the map was done by none other than Mike Schley! His style is the one used in CC3+. Now, I have no idea if you can actually recreate the above map using CC3+, but it might be worth a look.

In my research I did find out that he makes map by first sketching them and then scanning them into Photoshop where all the rest of the work is done.

The Mike Schley style is similar to his newer 5E stuff than that 4E stuff, but still looks beautiful.

You couldn't do a pixel for pixel recreation, but you could get the same general look by combining elements of some of the existing styles.
