GIMP, PyMapper, and Heroic Maps

Hey All,

I just converted to a VTT and I love it - CC3 works amazingly well for cranking out maps for it without having to worry about printing or anything. I have also stumbled across Heroic Map's line of modular terrain/virtual map tiles. However they don't seem to work very well with CC3. The .png files loaded as symbols do not line up exactly because of subtly resizing that CC3 is doing. I'm having the same problem with PyMapper. I've figured out what to do but I don't actually know how to do it because I'm GIMP illiterate. I've included an illistration of what I think needs to be done. Could anyone else help me with this project or has anyone else experienced this problem before? Please haaaalp!

All the best,
Adam

  • Well I've been messing around with GIMP and have managed to do exactly what I needed to do with one small glitch: Can some one explain, quickly and easily, how to cause white space to be considered transparent once exported as a .png?
  • Nevermind :P I figured it out.
  • You should explain how you did it in case others have the same issue. :)

Also, which VTT are you using?

The VTT I use is Fantasy Grounds. CC3 is my go-to program for map creating but I thought I'd give PyMapper a shot because Heroic Map sells dungeon "tiles". However It's not PERFECT yet - so I'm still at it. Is there a way to set the snap-grid (and/or grid overlay) of CC3 to a very precise degree such that a symbols edges are always fit exactly within/onto the grid?

For example with the picture I've included below - how can I make sure that my snap grid is such that the image/symbol occupies an exactly 3x3 block of it?
