looking for CC3 ideas for dwarf cities deep underground

I've got the sinkhole pits figured out. And I've put a castle on a mount deep underground with a chasm around it.

What I am looking for are symbols and other ideas on how to represent dwarf cities deep underground. Kinda like the ones seen in the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings when they went into Moria.

How does these cities look? Do they live in caves chiseled out from the rock, or do they live more like in house-like structures placed in a giant cavern? The latter is probably the easiest to draw, since the majority of the city can be mapped just like an overworld city, but with a different color-scheme. Probably giant mushrooms instead of trees and the such.

Carved out of the rock... but I have placed some surface buildings in Dwarf Home.

I haven't seen any symbols of carved out buildings. So it looks like I'll have to go with surface buildings.

The staircases might be a problem for me to draw though.

I've been looking over the Annuals I have...

Maybe perspectives would work for this, or the iso dungeon pieces... I'll give it a try.

I have the feeling that the City Panoramas style (released this July) might also be a good choice for carving buildings in a cave. The most difficult part would be to design the background...

Yeah, the background. I have figured out, from posts in here, how to make pits. The ones posted by others are squared off.

I may have to put this, along with other, ideas on hold until I can figure out how to do it.
