Fantasy Floorplans, City Designer, Dungeon Designer, (could go on) - which to choose?

I've been looking around in the forums and as yet I haven't found anyone who is saying anything overly keen on FP and my dilemma is that I can't shake the 'beneath-the-earth' connotations with the word Dungeons.
If I outline what I want to map maybe someone can suggest a route that isn't going to cost me a packet.
I want to have a cityscape and some light and airy floor plans of a few houses in the city.
I don't know how brown-dark all the symbols are in Dungeon Designer are, though going by the samples included in CC3 & CC3+, I'm guessing they're much darker than I want for the floorplan. Going by the samples of houses included in CC3, orange is the dominant colour there - not the shade I want. I've looked at the Modern Symbol set but I'm not sure about that either, and the floors in the Fantasy Floorplan examples are brown which is the same problem I have with Dungeons.
If anyone could suggest a route to achieve the goals I'd be most appreciative.

I have used this to show royalty, military, etc. areas of a town or city.
As for a lighter floorplan style, how about SS4? Mike Schley's stuff is lighter in color, and also (as almost all our symbols) comes in varicolor variations:

@John, it will be better if you open a new thread for your help request and describe a little more closely what you are currently trying to do.
