icosahedral maps
I am shopping around for a mapping program and I wanted to know if Fractal Terrains 3 and/or Campaign Cartographer 3 can generate and print a random world map in an icosahedral format so that there is no distortion of the land sizes? Also on the world map topic, can these programs generate multiple unconnected continents instead of the long continents that snake all over the screen as one massive continent that occupies half the world and the other half is all water?

Yes to both questions. (Unsure if it can print an icosahedral directly, but you can export an image and print it with any image viewer)
As for CC3, it does not do random generation, it is meant for you to create and work with maps in (You can create a random map in FT3 and export it to a CC3 format for further work if desired)
There is a free demo for FT3 available. It is heavily restricted in the output resolution of images, but apart from that it is fully featured, so I recommend you give it a go. There is no demo for CC3, but ProFantasy do have a 14 day satisfaction guarantee
