Creating lesser and greater depth in a castle overhead

Using CC3+ and DD3 to make a small Keep.

Here's the question: How can I create longer shadows from the higher outer walls on the inner courtyard, without having those shadows lean over the upper rampart portions.

I realize I could take a little more artistic effort and draw in a transparent shadow myself, but I want to see if I can arrange the sheets/effects in such a way that I can achieve the same look across the board. (This of course will be more useful when I'm not just making a simple Keep, but crafting a 2k x 2k city with multi-story buildings.

I have attempted selecting only certain walls and extending the shadow on them, but what I realized is that those shadows also cast above onto the 2nd floor walkway, ruining the intended perception.

Am I stuck drawing in my own shadows, or is there something I'm missing.

I've only been mapping with CC3+ for about 2 weeks, and am therefor a total noobtographer. Thanks for your advice in advance all!

Ok so I figured out a workaround that I think is going to be the solution. I created a new sheet call "tall shadow". Added a long wall shadow effect to it and a glow, then separated the upper floor (ramparts) and the lower floor (courtyard). Then I just drew lines/arcs along the walls that required the shadowing effect with a .1 width. Because I reordered the sheet levels you don't see the lines drawn in the end product.

I then ordered them as below (This is the order they appear in the sheets menu):

    Sub-floor (courtyard)
    Tall Shadow (high walls)
    Floor (Upper floors on ramparts)
Walls (basic walls that I modified the shadow effect to be shorter to imply chest high walls)

Works pretty well, I'll update another pic here when I wrap up the shadowing. Looking forward to vegetating (:P) and adding symbols and life to this Keep.
