Ah, sorry... forgot about the zoomed in shots. I will again see what I can do :-) I am also working on the Groenwoud map a bit more, after some comments I received here and on another forum.
The river isn't frozen, because it's very fast flowing. In the dead of winter it might freeze at some spots though.
Ok, this is an updated version of the Groenwoud map. I changed the logs in the rivers, added some wagon trails and hills outside and changed a label. I have decided to keep most of the surrounding area empty.
And very quick and dirty, the two requested zoomed in shots. This is very zoomed in (I always shrink the maps to increase the quality) and with no post work in Paint Shop Pro.
Yeah, well... still not sharing any FCW files at the moment, sorry. But I did do another tutorial to teach people how to create cliffs like in my Concetron map (see example). The PDF I attached below the screenshot. Using this tutorial you could also create quarries or claypits. I had some of those in my maps as well.
Groenwoud has no boats, they are logs floating downstream. I got the logs from the CSUAC I think, an enormous collection of free symbols. That collection also has boats. The website where I got the CSUAC is down though... hopefully someone on this board can direct you to the new website or another collection.
The CSUAC is unfortunately not available anymore, and the license agreement prevents those that have it from redistributing it. However, try the SMAC instead. It contains many more symbols. (I don't know if it contains logs or boats though, you will just have to check, but it is an awesome collection)

Was wondering why the land is frozen but the river isn't?
But hey, there a re wizards in the city. maybe its their jobs to keep it open.
And still awaiting the zoomed in shots of your previous city ;-)

I see the simple step I was missing to create something similar to what you had, the overhang section.
Incredibly helpful as always.
