Hex Grids Suggestions
Hello,
I'm not sure where to post this since there is no suggestion category.
My hobby is designing Napoleonic wargames, weird I know :-) But hey different strokes.
Anyway, I've used CC2 and CC3 for several maps and I've always had problems with the hex grid. Generally, when we create a wargame for publishing we use standard paper sizes 8.5x11, 11x17, 22x34 and 44x68 for US units. Sometimes the maps have 2 22x34 or 3 22x34 sheets. The hexes are most often 5/8" or 3/4" from edge to edge to fit 1/2" or 5/8" game pieces.
It would be nice to have the grid function layout 5/8" or 3/4" inch hexes though now I've got it down its not too big a deal, but I have to relearn it every time I do a map.
It is often required in wargames that we need to trace from the center of one hex to another to determine if a clear line of sight exists. So it would be nice to have the hex grid function have the option of adding a center dot to each hex.
And so the map does not get too cluttered it would be nice to be able to say I only want to label hexes every fifth row and/or fifth column (those pesky fifth columnists).
Finally in order to reduce clutter it would also be nice to have the option to draw the hex grid with just the hex vertices with a short stub along the hex spines of say about 1/4 of the hexside distance.
These minor changes help to produce a much more visually pleasing map where the hex grid is a little more in the background.
Thanks,
Terry
