CC3+ Symbol manager
How does one stop the Select Catalog Setting dialogue appearing every single time I click say the Vegetation catalog selection button (the one with the tree)?
I understand that for the first time I click that button, then I should get the dialog - I should in that dialog be able to select the default catalog I want, so that on subsequent clicks of the Vegetation button, I immediately get the catalog loaded, rather than having the Select Catalog Setting dialogue always appearing, and then selecting the catalog to load.
I'm sorry, but it really bugs the bejezzus out of me!

What happens is that a symbol catalog is picked based on certain filters, the master filter, which is normally associated with the style of the map (but can be changed by using the toggle symbol style button), and the catalog settings filter, which is set each time you click a symbol catalog button. If CCx finds more than one (or exactly zero) symbol catalog matching the combination of those filters, it will show the pick catalog dialog, if it finds exactly one symbol catalog matching, it will load that directly instead. There is no way to set one catalog from this list as "standard".
What you can do if you really desire is to edit the menu file for that map type, here you can edit the filter this button sets when clicked. But this will affect all map styles of that type, so it is likely that this will be very undesirable in the long run.
Also, do remember that if you could set one catalog as standard, that would block you from using all the other catalogs of that style in that category. Often you do want to switch between the different catalogs hiding behind the same button. For example, in DD3, that button hides both the vegetation and skirmish catalogs, both catalogs you'll want to be able to switch back and forth between. CD3 is another excellent example, where the house buttons contains a handful of different house catalogs.
