CC3+ Bug

I have installed CC3+. When I bought it, I didn't realise it was an Early Adopter edition, I thought it was polished software.

I installed it to D:/Programs/Profantasy/CC3+
It's working, but the symbol catalog buttons dont work. The symbol boxes that run down the left side of the program are all empty.
When I click the symbol catalog switcher buttons across the top menu, I get a popup where "Available symbol catalogs" are displayed, but that box is empty.
If I click the Advanced>> button, and then browse, i can manually drill down to a single symbol catalog, which is then given an address like "@Symbols\Maps\Filled\Borders.FSC"
If I click OK, I am prompted to save settings. I save, but they dont stick.

How can I fix this?

    I installed it to D:/Programs/Profantasy/CC3+
First, is there some reason that you didn't install it to the default location recommended by the installer? My general stance on Early Adopter ("Beta") software is to vary as little as possible off of recommended installation options as possible. One suggestion I *do* have, however, is to change where you install ProgramData unless you are Power User who runs with hidden folders unhidden (and you understand the risks).

I would also be somewhat suspect of the use of a special character ("+") character in an installation path. The default installation path is "C:\Program Files (x86)\ProFantasy\CC3Plus\" Take note of the fact that ProFantasy even uses "Plus" instead of "+".

  • Was looking at this some more.

Can you also confirm that you installed ProgramData to D:\ as well? Just wondering if you've got the Program installed on D:\ but the ProgramData (such as the symbols) installed on C:\ and if that is perhaps messing things up.

There is a file in your installation directory with the filename "@. In my case, it contains the path to where I had the installer load the CC3+ program data. @ represents that path in your example @Symbols\Maps\Filled\Borders.FSC".

    Hope this helps...

Your post made me look closer at my installation, and I realised I had installed the program to programfiles - the installer doesn't give the option to change it.
It's the program data I had changed the install location.

So, i have the program executable files in C:\programfiles (x86), and the data on D: drive.

I just uninstalled and reinstalled with the same setup.
On first run, the symbol catalog buttons worked properly. When I shut down the program and re-opened it, they were blank again.
    That's where I'm stuck now.

The @.ini file does include the correct folder.

PS: I misremembered the folder name. I use CC3Plus as the data folder's name, there's no "+" symbol in it.

The symbol catalog buttons opens up catalogs based on the current master filter. This should normally be set when you open a map, but you can try to set it manually. Simply right click the Symbol style toggle button, and select the master filter settings option. I don't have CC3+ in front of me right now, but you should have one or more filters in this list named CC3 something. Choose one of them, hit ok, and try the symbol catalog buttons again. If none of the options starts with CC3, then the wrong filter set is loaded, so click the load button in the dialog, and load a different set (Again, look for a set starting with CC3).
  • The blank available symbol catalog problem the same problem I had till I contacted Ralf and got to try the Update 1 patch for CC3+ which fixed it.

Make sure you let Ralf know your system information too.
  • Monsen, the list in the symbol style toggle is empty.

Jay, thanks. How do i contact Ralf?
