  • ok, so if that's my issue, how can you increase the pixels per map unit? i never could fully wrap my head around this....

if i have to export smaller sections of a map and then stitch them together in Gimp, so be it. i really don't have an issue with that.

This is simply the export resolution. If you want an export using 20 pixels per map unit (A map unit for a dungeon map is normally one foot, or 1m if using a metric template), simply multiply the size of your map by 20 and enter those values into the export dialog. For your example map, it is 568 wide, multiplying that by 20 yields 11360 pixels wide. This is probably more than CC3 can handle, even without antialiasing, which is why it generally doesn't work too well exporting a complete map in battlemap-resolution.
If you really want it though, you may need to export it in pieces, if so, use rectangular png export, and manually type the coordinates instead of clicking, as this allows for a more precise selection.

Multiply the desired pixel count by the desired units.

    Let's say you want to print a 30" W x 20" H map and have 150 pixels per inch. The settings for your rectangular PNG will be 4500 W (30x150) x 3000 H (20x150).

I've noticed that for physical printouts that is more than enough resolution for battemaps. If you want to print at 600dpi (dots per inch) just substitute the 600 for the 150 in the equation above.

Just remember that the higher the pixel count the higher the likeliness CC3 will choke. CC3+ seems to handle it much better. If you want extremely high resolution your maps are going to have to be smaller, or you will have to break them into smaller chunks.
