Selecting entities
Greetings fellow mappers,
I have a question regarding entity selection. I've tried searching these forums and the Tome but can't seem to find an answer.
I have a map with areas covered in 2 symbols of the same color. One symbol is a a combination of entities, one being grassy lumps and trees, and the second symbol being just the (same) tree symbol. I would like to separate these 2 symbol types into 2 layers (which I admittedly should have done in the first place :-)) and 2 sheets. The symbols in question are from the Vegetation catalog in CC3+
There are quite a few such areas with manyof these symbols overlapping one another making manual selection very tedious but admittedly possible.
I've tried listing the symbols looking for a method to differentiate them on color, line style, entity type, fill style, etc. I can't seem to find a way to do it as the symbols have the same values for these attributes.
I would love to be able to filter by symbol name, such as "Scrub" or some such but it doesn't appear that I can do that. As a developer, I would gladly write a macro to do this if I could since I'd bet I'd use it again in the future assuming I could specify the inputs like layer, attribute to filter on and attribute value. I'll continue looking into that. As a last resort, I can certainly do it by hand or erase the entities and recreate them with correct layer assignments ... (Doh, should have done that to start with)
In the meantime, anyone have any hints/suggestions on how to do this either from the UI or command prompt?
Thanks in advance,
-Mike
